My favorite nights of the week are Tuesdays and Thursdays. They're the days that I usually get to the studio after work. I usually set myself up to start a new piece on Tuesday by rolling slabs out and letting them set up on the weekend. I haven't really been to the studio for a few weeks so, the slabs that were there were not really agreeable. I practically used my hands AND feet to keep the slabs together as I adjusted each side to fit onto the one next to it.

Last night I woke up in the middle of the night thinking about a new form. I don't think of the actual finished form, but instead of augmenting an existing form and the underlying template. Last night was no different. So, the first set of pictures is the form that I wanted to "grow". The second set was the one I made tonight.

This piece will probably be about 9" tall when finished. This style takes a long time to form. Tonight took me 3 hours. All during those 3 hours I had no idea if this piece would work. It was exhilarating.

I fired 3 test "tiles" (they're actually a form that didn't work out) I did with 3 new underglazes. Each tile has 3 sections; 1 coat, 2 coats, 3 coats. I'll see what they look like tomorrow or Thursday when I go back.

I'm off to bed. I'm the best exhausted; really beat from having worked really hard. It was a good day!
